Threats to America

From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide.
~Abraham Lincoln

A country cannot subsist without liberty, nor liberty without virtue.

~Daniel Webster

Two Threats to America

Two Threats to America

Of the many, there are two particularly serious threats to America. Both are from within. Refusal to acknowledge them would be naïve, untruthful and irresponsible. As the leader of the world, we should not be surprised.

  1. Values – The Eternal values upon which America was founded are in danger of being redefined or ignored.
  2. Freedom – As the result of the threat to our values, Freedom, as understood by our Founders, is being threatened.

Investors can help defend against both of these threats.

American Values Threatened

America depends on millions of people sharing a common set of values. America’s values are in danger of being redefined and/or weakened.

  1. Redefined – God, through His word, the Bible, has been the primary source for defining America’s values. But, these values are in danger of being redefined by some who want replace our divine definitions with man-made ones.
  2. Weakened – For those of us who know what is right, letting our values slip is a danger as well. It is all too easy to allow other concerns, like financial matters, get ahead of what is most important.

Americans can use their investments to help defend our values

I think we are inviting God’s judgement on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, “We know better than you…”

~Dan Cathy

When I faced oppression in Cuba, I had a place to flee. If we lose our freedom here, where do we go?

~Rafael Cruz

Freedom at risk

Freedom in America is at risk because our values, as defined by the Bible, are at risk. Benjamin Franklin clearly described this connection when he said, “only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”

Clear evidence of freedom’s threat is the increasing fascination with socialism. Many Americans are becoming convinced that we, as a people, will not be proactively virtuous enough to solve many of today’s important challenges without government intrusion.

Investors defend freedom by supporting companies that defend American values.
