Freedom Depends on our Values

Freedom depends on values

In Ben Franklin was correct by saying, “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom,” then promoting and living the right values are critical to freedom. The more we are self-governed, and do the right thing on our own, the fewer laws will be needed to keep us in line. If pressed most of us would say our values are more important than our fnancial condition. Calvin Coolidge said it well, “The danger to America is not in the direction of the failure to maintain its economic position, but in the direction of the failure to maintain its ideals.”

Let me add, that only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.

~Benjamin Franklin

The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were … the general principles of Christianity …

~John Adams

Defining America’s Values

What are the values that have defined America? They are simply the Judeo/Christian values as described in the Bible. They are the cornerstone for our democracy. But not everyone believes these are America’s values. So, we do have the challenge of resisting the forces that would redefine America’s values to something other than the ones upon which we were founded. John Adams said, “The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were … the general principles of Christianity … I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”

Advancing our Values

Advancing our values will advance freedom and help America. Of course, there are plenty of bad things we should not do. But, we must not forget, there are plenty of good things that we can do. As Calvin Coolidge said, “Little progress can be made by merely attempting to repress what is evil; our great hope lies in developing what is good.”

We believe using our investments to support the BEST examples of American values will advance freedom and, therefore, have a significantly positive impact on America.

Little progress can be made by merely attempting to repress whta is evil; our great home lies in developing what is good

~Calvin Coolidge
